FAQs and Cost

  • Counselling and assessment sessions are £60. Sessions are 50 minutes and take place at the same time and place each week.

  • I ask that you make payment for sessions before they begin via BACS transfer. If for any reason BACS isn’t possible, you can also pay via PayPal.

  • No time at all – we can start counselling in as little as week from when you contact me.

We’ll first arrange an Assessment session within the next week or 2 – this takes 50 minutes and is a chance to see if we’ll mesh well and also make sure that I’m the best therapist for you. Counselling normally starts the week after.

If for any reason I don’t think I’m the right fit, I’ll help you find a counsellor that specialises in whatever you need and refund the cost of your Assessment.

  • Yes, I offer one concession spot of £55 per week to a student studying on a counselling diploma or degree course.

  • Get in touch by hitting the ‘Contact Me’ button at the top of the page and sending me a message. Alternatively you can email laura@laurasimmondstherapy.uk or text 07776 573425. I aim to reply to you within 1-2 days.

  • Yes, I offer both! I offer online sessions to people living anywhere in the UK on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

I also offer limited face-to-face sessions at the Tunbridge Wells Practice Rooms in Kent for people living in the Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks areas.

  • No, not right now – I only have day time appointments available.

  • I use Zoom as it’s secure and private. I’ll email you a Zoom link at the start of our work together and we’ll the same link for all our future sessions.

  • Absolutely. Everything you tell me in sessions or over email/text is completely confidential.

There are a couple of exceptions to that though, especially if there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person. I’ll talk to you about all of that, as well as sending you a copy of my confidentiality policy, before we start working together.

  • Yes, I work a lot with clients who are neurodiverse including autism, ADHD and dyslexia.

Its really important that counselling feels safe and accessible for you so together, we can work out if you need any adaptations – from movement breaks to adapting the cancellation policy for chronic medical issues to making sure you get information in a form that works for you. And anything in between.

  • Yes, I work a lot with people with people from the LGBTQ+ community including those who are trans, non-binary or gender exploring. I’m also queer myself which gives me a deep understanding of many of the experiences that bring LGBTQ+ people to counselling.

I am cis-gendered and understand that many people who are trans, non-binary or gender questioning can find it really helpful to work with a therapist with lived experience. If that’s you, I’d really recommend checking out the Gendered Intelligence Directory to find an experienced trans or non-binary therapist.

If you’d like to find out more, I offer free 15 minute phone consultations. Send me a message and we’ll arrange a time to talk.
